It is possible to create offices that are comfortable to over 80% of its users, even though comfort is a subjective experience. And since a comfortable work space is proved to reduce illnes and physical complaints it is not at all luxury but rather a necessity.
This among other things is described in the book 'Aangetoonde effecten van het kantoorinterieur' (Demonstrated effects in office interiors) by prof. dr. Peter Vink. In a short series we will share with you examples of important aspects of healthy and stimulating office interiors.
The first example is the office of marketing- and communications company JWT in Paris. Designer Mathieu Lehanneur has optimised the possibility to alternate concentration, meetings, presentation and relaxation. A working environment that allows its users to find their own balance between sitting still and moving around is experienced as highly comfortable.
